Formerly Executive VP and Media Director for DDB Needham Worldwide in Chicago, Mike joined the agency’s strategic team in 1997 following his retirement. A 30-year veteran of major agencies including Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson, and Cunningham & Walsh, Mike has worked on developing national and international media planning for spot market television, cable networks and consumer print media for Richardson Labs, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers, and Oberto Beef Jerky. His major brand experience includes McDonald’s, General Mills, Pillsbury, Heinz, Frito Lay, Kraft, G.D. Searle and Vick Chemical, among others. At DDB Needham, Mike was also responsible for the launch of the agency’s “Electronic Ventures Operation”, an innovative unit created to provide new technologies research, opportunity development and marketing analysis for a broad array of clients. He was recognized in 1988 as Media Director of the Year by Marketing & Media Decisions, and currently serves as instructor for Adweek’s Media School and the American Association of Advertising Agencies continuing education program at the University of Illinois.
